Delia Kathryn McCormick, 94, of Quincy, Illinois, formerly of Sumner, Missouri died November 13, 2018 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy. She was born December 5, 1923, to Delia and A. M. Howard.
Delia graduated from Sumner High School and became a Registered Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. She married Albert W. (Doug) McCormick on February 26, 1944 in Sumner, Missouri.
Delia was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Frances Louise Howard and Helen Robinson and a brother Ron Howard. Her three children survive her: Ronald (Linda) McCormick of Noblesville, Indiana, Janet (Daniel) Griesbaum of Maywood, Missouri, and Karen (Joe) Krenzel of Columbia, Missouri as well as seven grandchildren: Kevin (Amanda) McCormick, Ryan (Jette) McCormick, Douglas (Kami) Griesbaum, John (Karla) Griesbaum, Andrew (Lindseigh) Griesbaum, Eileen (Fabio) Rojas and Melissa (Tobi) Lang. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and two siblings: Al M. Howard of Florida and Caroline Sapp of Hannibal, Missouri.
Delia was a farm wife, a mother, and grandmother. She was an active community worker and was involved in many organizations during her years in Sumner. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Sumner. Her caring attitude was shown as she nursed her mother-in-law and her sister in their later years and made available her skills to members of the community. Her love of sewing kept her family clothed for many years and all the grandchildren were given personalized handmade quilts.
Services will be held Monday, November 19, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield, Missouri. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Sumner. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
