Harry Wolfe Obituary

Harry Francis Wolfe (92 years old) was surrounded by family when he went to be with his Heavenly Father on December 28, 2018. He was born in Marceline, Missouri, January 26, 1926, to Jasper Curtis Wolfe and Mary (Clair) Wolfe. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII from December 1943 through November 1945. He received rank of Corporal while in service, stationed in Biloxi, MS where he flew over the Gulf of Mexico looking for German submarines. After his years of service, Harry met and married Rita Mae Riddell from Rothville, Missouri in 1950. Shortly after, he joined his father, his brother Willard, and his sister Marguerite in the automobile business, known as Wolfe Auto Sales, Inc. In 1992, after 40 years in the auto business in Brookfield, the business was sold, and Harry retired to Lake Nehai Tonkayea, near Marceline. Harry was passionate about his community and served as President of the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club, and Tanglefoot Squares Club. He always loved God and his country, he was a lifetime member of VFW and member in the American Legion Post 182 in Brookfield for 25 years, he served as Commander, Adjutant, and Chaplain. He has always been an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir for over 75 years. He also sang in the Community Chorus for many years. Harry enjoyed visiting with everyone, whether at home or traveling throughout the country and always had a story to tell. He enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the years, visiting all 50 states as well as Mexico, Italy, England, Scotland, Canada, and the Holy Land. Harry also enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, traveling, working on antique clocks, and telling tales.

He is survived by his wife, Rita of 68 years, his sister Marguerite Johnson, and his four children, Terry (Jean) Wolfe, Wexford, PA, Judy (Rick) Powell, Boonville, MO, John (Janice) Wolfe, Columbus, IN, and Bette Jo (Richard) Hauber, Kansas City, MO, his 9 grandchildren, and his 11 great grandchildren. His parents and his brother, Willard Wolfe, preceded him in death.

 Funeral services will be held Monday, December 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Brookfield with Pastor Tom Sullenger officiating.  Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Brookfield.  Visitation will be Sunday, December 30, 2018, from 4:00 until 6:00 in the evening at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield.
