Walter H. Switzer, age 84, of Asbury, died Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Pittsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2019, at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor David Blakely officiating. Burial will be in Siloam Chapel Cemetery near Mendon. Visitation will be Sunday, March 31, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield.

Walter Hadley, son of George “Hadley” and Vesta Mae (Carl) Switzer, was born October 8, 1934, in Mendon. On June 19, 1988, he married Daphna Ann Pringle who preceded him in death on March 9, 2001.
Walter retired as a diesel mechanic from Ryder Truck Rental. He also drove a semitruck for Steve Watson Trucking for 15 years.
He attended the Baptist Church in Asbury, Missouri.
Survivors include three children, Chester Switzer and wife, Monica of the State of Georgia, Laura Annette Switzer-Striegel of Asbury and Carl Allen Switzer and wife, April of Joplin; five grandchildren, Jesica, Tim Striegel, Kenny Striegel, Joseph Switzer and Kendra Switzer; six great-grandchildren; and one niece, Robin Fry of Marceline.
His parents; one sister, Linda Fry and husband, Charlie; and one grandson, Joshua Switzer also preceded him in death.
