Anthony “Tony” Mundell, age 64, of Brookfield, passed peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.
Anthony Clark, son of Junius Lee and Lou Ann (Edmundson) Mundell, was born August 9, 1957, in Brookfield. On June 23, 1979, he married Kathy Jo DeVore of Browning. Tony was a 1975 graduate of Meadville R-IV High School. He spent his entire life on the family farm in Browning, raising cattle and row crops.
Tony was a member of Park Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher. He was a former member of the Linn County R-I School board and served for many years on the MFA Board of Directors. Tony also served as President of Farmer’s Mutual Insurance of Linn County for 14 years.
Tony loved his family immensely and enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and recitals. Traveling with Kathy, gardening, bird hunting, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs were some of his favorite pastimes.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy of the home; two daughters, Kiley Allen and husband, Charles, Tara Nerling and husband, Ryan, and son, Cody Mundell all of Kansas City; eight grandchildren, Ava and Aiden Tucker, Molly, Carter, Richard and Colt Allen, Maci and Stella Nerling; one sister, Brenda Harmon and husband, Joe of Anderson; three sisters-in-law, Bonnie Head of Brookfield, Donna Rollison and husband, Bob of Laclede, and Debbie Knifong and husband, Dyle of Canon City, CO; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha and Kenneth Burns of Brookfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Lou Mundell; two sisters, Cindy Susan and Melissa Lou Mundell; brother-in-law, Gary Wayne Head; niece, Sharese Tollerton; and father-in-law, Vernon DeVore.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Park Baptist Church in Brookfield with Pastor David Blakely officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, west of Purdin.
