Danny “D.D.” Meyer, age 67, of Columbia, passed away, Friday, March 19, 2021, at his home.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor Sue Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Bear Branch Cemetery near Purdin. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Danny Dale, son of Roland and Elizabeth “Betty” (Faris) Meyer, was born August 18, 1953, in Brookfield. On September 11, 1976, he married Sheila Ogle.
Danny was a 1971 graduate of Northwesten R-1 High School in Mendon. He attended Moberly Area Community College and later transferred to Trenton Junior College where he graduated with his Associate Degree in Agricultural Science. It was then that he began working for Orscheln’s Farm and Home working his way up to Manager. When the company began to expand, Danny moved to several different store locations, opening new stores and training new managers. He and Sheila finally made their home in Columbia. D.D. worked many jobs while in Columbia with his latest being a Machine Operator for Caterpillar Inc.
D.D. enjoyed watching sports and was an avid Royals and Cardinals fan. He especially enjoyed golfing with Clent and Faris. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and never knew a stranger. He was a great man and friend.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila of the home; his children, Clent Meyer of St. Peters and Carey Henke and husband, Doug of Columbia; two grandchildren, Taylor and Trent Henke of Columbia; one brother, Faris Meyer and wife, Del Dee of Salisbury; one sister, Mona Sites and her daughter, Shannon Alterauge and family of Chillicothe; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
His parents and special friends, Harel and Pauline Light preceded him in death.
