Erwin Eugene Smith

Erwin Eugene Smith, age 92, of Brookfield passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, at Pershing Memorial Hospital, Brookfield, Missouri.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 22. 2022 at Wright Funeral Home, Brookfield with Pastor Joe Cuminale officiating. Burial will follow at Laclede Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Erwin Eugene, son of Erwin “Mann” and Sarah Francis (Riedle) Smith, was born December 16, 1929, in Purdin, Missouri. In 1949, He was united in marriage to Dolores Rae Shanks.  He then married Ruby Lou Shipps in 1974, she preceded him in death.

Gene spent much of his life as an antique dealer and owned Smith Antiques shop in Brookfield. He was a member of the Laclede Methodist Church.

Survivors include his three children, Keith Smith (Diana), Maryville, MO; Barbara Awbrey (Roy), Maurice, LA; and Kenneth Smith (Debbie), Harrisonville, MO; six grandchildren, Kylee Smith, James Awbrey, Angelena Awbrey, Kristy Smith, Scott Smith, and Stephanie Nelson; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sister, Arlene Devore, Browning, MO

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ruby; two brothers, Gerald Smith, and William “Billy” Smith; one brother-in-law, Neil Devore: and one sister-in-law Janet Smith.
