Gene Lewis Hackler

Gene Hackler, age 76, formerly of Brookfield, died Sunday, April 4, 2021 at Milan Health Care Facility in Milan.

A graveside service will be Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Brookfield. There is no scheduled visitation. Services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield.

Gene Lewis, son of Lewis William and Mary Josephine (Stevens) Hackler, was born October 5, 1944 in Brookfield.

Gene attended Brookfield R-3 High School. 

Gene loved to entertain folks by strumming his guitar and singing traditional country music songs. He loved karaoke and auctioneering. He actually had a certificate from an auctioneering school of which he was quite proud.

Survivors include his brother, Arlan Hackler and wife, Donna of Knoxville, Iowa; two nieces, Tara Jackson and husband, James of Fridley, Minnesota and Tania Minkler and husband, Steve of Stronghurst, Illinois; three grandnieces and three grandnephews.

His parents preceded him in death.
