George Albert Almond

George Almond, age 88, of New Boston, passed away, Sunday, December 12, 2021, at his home. 

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor Jim Rogers officiating.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Nester Chapel Cemetery, New Boston.

George Albert, son of James Rex and Lula Ellen (Brownfield) Almond, was born March 23, 1933, in Cora.  On October 17, 1954, he married Mona Abbott.

George was a lifelong farmer and served many years on the Baker Township board.  At the age of 80, George became a full-time mail carrier after 20 years as a substitute.

He was a member of Calvary Chapel Baptist Church in New Boston and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War.  George loved to hunt coyotes and racoons.

Survivors include his wife, Mona of the home; six children, George Albert Almond, Jr. (Cindy Wilson) of Trenton, Jeanne Palmer (Dean) of Purdin, Cindy Doss (Steve) of Brookfield, Jim Almond (Dianna) of New Boston, Larry Almond (Susan) of Brookfield, and Don Almond (Christine Stevenson) of Bucklin; 19 grandchildren, Rob  Almond (Kandy), Gayla Wilson (Mark), Jenny Seals (Rodney), Jeremy Palmer (Abby), Susan Isaacs (Jason), Heather Doss, Jessica Doss, Michelle Norris, Samantha Doss, Tracy Doss, Hilary Knazik (Jared), Holly Fairley (Caleb), Haley Almond, Laura Clark (Jordan) Maggie Almond, Brittney Almond, Whitley McKenzie (Ross), Taylor Almond, and Coltin Almond; 32 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.  

His parent; and three sisters, Mammie Smith (Willis), Juanita Smith (Keith), and Thelma Almond preceded him in death.
