George (GJ) Zahner

George (GJ) Joseph Zahner, 73 of Brookfield, MO passed away peacefully in his home on May 28, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Graveside services will be Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Mendon City Cemetery on Newhall Road in Mendon, MO with Pastor Joe Smith officiating.   Family and close friends are welcome.

Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital may be left at the cemetery or mailed to Wright Funeral Home, P.O. Box 496, Brookfield, MO 64628.

GJ was born on his family farm in Mendon, Mo January 4, 1948. He graduated from Mendon High School in 1965. On September 25, 1965 he married his high school sweetheart Roberta Elaine Lynn.  GJ owned a roofing business in his earlier years, later becoming a carpenter and joining the Carpenters Union until retiring.

GJ was a hardworking, fun loving, good hearted man, and a friend to many. He enjoyed being with his family, hunting, working with his John Deere tractors, farming, and lending a hand to help anyone do anything they needed. He loved his family very much and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his children Greg Zahner and his wife Kim of Brookfield, MO, Brad Zahner and his wife Tina of Marceline, MO, Kristy Huffman and her husband Gaylen of Mendon, MO; grandchildren Garrett Zahner, Tyler Huffman, Georganne and Isaac Zahner; his brother Donald Zahner, and sisters Marie Arp, Anna Linscott and Lois Wood.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Lucille, mother and father-in-law Charles and Edna Lynn; and his beloved wife Roberta Elaine “Lynn” Zahner and many cherished family and friends.
