Gertrude Fontelle Jaynes, age 99, of Meadville, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Morningside Center in Chillicothe.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Meadville United Methodist Church in Meadville with Pastor Rex Leppin officiating. Burial will be in the Meadville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home, Brookfield.

Gertrude Fontelle, daughter of Clyde Cleveland and Gillie Marie (Pearson) Alexander was born January 23, 1924, in Linneus, MO. Fontelle was a 1942 graduate of Meadville High School. On March 12, 1945, she married Leon Harrison Jaynes who preceded her in death on April 27, 2011.
Fontelle and Leon owned and operated their own dairy farm for many years. She was a dedicated member of the Meadville United Methodist Church and Industrious Club. Fontelle enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting and cooking for family. Above all, her passions in life were the Lord and her family.
Survivors include sons, Barry Jaynes and wife, Mary Jane of Springfield and Lee Jaynes and wife, Jolene of Meadville; grandchildren, Ryan Jaynes and wife, Gretchen of Greenwood, Indiana, Sara Reynolds and husband, Justin of Neosho, MO, Maggie Beall and husband, Clinton of Meadville and Casey Jaynes and wife, Cassie of Meadville; great grandchildren, Isaac, Makenna, Caleb, and Landrie Jaynes, Milen, Bo and Hayden Reynolds, Memphis and Josie Beall, and Ryker and Ridger Jaynes; sister-in-law, Bonnie Alexander of Linneus; brother-in-law, Lloyd Woollen of Webb City, MO; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Elwood Alexander and James Alexander, one sister, Martha Ann Woollen, and one sister-in-law, Maxine Alexander.
