Inez Cadwell (Sornberger) Hood

Inez Hood, age 88, of Meadville, passed away, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at her home.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Meadville with Pastor Bill Bowers officiating.  Burial will be in Meadville Cemetery in Meadville.  The family will receive friends Friday, February 10, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Inez Cadwell, daughter of Briggs Wilbur and Essex Eudora (Young) Sornberger, was born May 20, 1934, in Galesburg, Illinois.  On September 12, 1953, she married Jerald “Jerry” Hood who preceded her in death on April 23, 2008.

Inez had a strong faith and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and working as church librarian for Meadville First Baptist Church. 

Inez was a member of the Meadville First Baptist Church, Meadville Industrious Club, and the Wheeling Federated Garden Club. 

Survivors include two daughters, Joy Leppin and husband, Rex of Meadville, and Julie Reineke Sipe and husband, Allen of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren, Ean Leppin and wife, Leigha of Wheeling, Elliott Leppin and wife, Jessie of Chillicothe, and Peter Reineke and Andrew Reineke both of Kansas City; 13 great-grandchildren, Logan, Lily, Violet, Trixie, Ezra, Jonas, Sam, Poppy, Eli, Ethan, Seth, Iris, and Rose Leppin; one sister, Nancy Avirom of Kyle, Texas and her children, Betsy Stockwell and David Avirom; and several other nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Joy Sornberger and Betsy Sornberger; and son-in-law Mike Reineke.
