James "Larry" Witte Obituary

James “Larry” Witte, age 84, of Brookfield, passed away, Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Service with an Eagles Session of Sorrow will be held Monday, November 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Lee Proch officiating at Wright Funeral Home, Brookfield. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home

Larry Witte, son of Fred Lawrence and Ila Lois (Barrows) Witte, was born August 4, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois.  On April 19, 1957, he married Bonnie Louise Utley. 

Larry worked for several years and later retired as an Operator Engineer for the Local 101 I.U.O.E. out of Kansas City. In his earlier years, Larry worked construction where he traveled to many states with his family along his side. His biggest construction adventure was with his family when they traveled to Australia.

Larry was a member of the Eagles club of Brookfield. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, deer hunting, shooting craps, shopping at Cabela’s and most of all loved hosting fish fry’s at the river and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie of the home; two children, Tammy Kunkel of Lee’s Summit, Sherry Enyeart and husband Jerry of Camden Point, one daughter in-law Amy Witte of Brookfield; five grandchildren, Jayme Spray and husband Floyd of Brookfield, Joshua Kunkel and wife Madison of Kansas City, Lindsay Bowen and husband Matt of Brookfield, Dustin Witte and wife Nichole of Lexington and Sam Enyeart of Kansas City; nine great grandchildren, Amanda Strickland, Reighlyn Champagne, Jack and Marleigh Bowen, Kennedy and Jameson Kunkel, Laney, Lacey and Levi Witte; and several other nieces, nephews and other extended family members.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kevin Witte; one son in-law Mike Kunkel and his two brothers, Geneil Haley and Nile “Jack” Haley.
