Jeri Reese, age 56, of Brookfield, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 25, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield. To honor her in togetherness and talking, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Lake Nehai Tonkayea.
In recognition of her love of knowledge and learning, in lieu of flowers, donations are requested for the Jeri Leigh Reese Education Fund, a yearly scholarship for a Brookfield High School Graduate that encompasses compassion, friendship, hard work, and dedication - traits that encompass Jeri Leigh. Jeri Leigh, daughter of Jerry Leon and Judith Ann (Head) Edwards, was born February 3, 1967, in Brookfield. Jeri attended Brookfield High School where she made lifelong friends, who’s time together became some of her fondest memories and stories. Jeri was a graduate of the University of Missouri and attended Drake University Law School in Iowa.
Jeri had many talents and a range of skill sets, which showed through her variety of jobs. She was a Bindery Scheduler and Commercial Customer Service Representative for Walsworth Publishing Company in Marceline. She was the owner of Raspberry’s BBQ in Macon for 16 years. Jeri was a long-time devoted employee at Tastee Treat in Brookfield and worked for Grimshaw & Associates Tax Service in Macon.
Jeri had a strong love for her family and friends. She was a selfless person and would do anything for those that she loved. Jeri was a wonderful aunt, who attended any game, concert, or event that her nieces and nephew had.
She enjoyed watching the sunset, walks on the beach, sitting on her dock at the lake, Pepsi, reading romance novels and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Jeri was an avid collector of Precious Moments figurines and she proudly displayed her collection in her beautiful home.
Survivors include her two brothers, Jeff Edwards, and wife, Heidi of Brookfield, and Josh Edwards of Brookfield; her aunts and uncles; two nieces, Caylie Newlin, and husband, Logan of Brookfield, and Meghan Edwards, one nephew Hunter James of Brookfield, and one great niece, Nora Newlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandparents.
