Joanie Byrd

Joanie Byrd, age, 73, of Brookfield, passed away, Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at her home.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor Lee Porch officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Joanie, daughter of Leslie and Mary Jane (Gates) Scriven, was born on May 3, 1949, in Youngstown, Missouri. On September 19, 1969, she married Byron Byrd, who preceded her in death on August 5, 2015.

Joanie worked at Wal-Mart for over 30 years. She had a great love for her kids, grandkids, and her fur babies.

Survivors include her four children, Rebecca Cowper of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kristina Hamilton and husband, Mike of Kansas City, Kansas, Jennifer Byrd-Bulechek of Kirksville, Melissa Walsh of Kansas City; ten grandchildren, Charles Cowper, Isabelle Cowper, Dalton Wright, Tucker Wright, Samantha Bulechek, Kody Bulechek, Aiden Byrd, Hank Walsh, Maggie Walsh, Mylee Walsh; two great-grandchildren, Zella Green, Mathias Wright; one brother, Leslie Scriven and wife, Shelley of Springfield, one sister, Jeanie Childress of St. Louis; and several other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Helena Woods and Nancy Scriven; one infant brother, Johnny; and one infant sister, Linda.
