Milford Ray, adopted son of Fred S. and Alma C. (Lindberg) Olson, was born January 17, 1928, in Princeton, Illinois. On October 9, 1951, he married Ramalee Shouse who preceded him in death on May 9, 2004. Milford married Dorothy Russell Shouse Bowe on December 1, 2004, who survives him.
Milford farmed almost all his life, owning and operating a dairy-beef-hog farm in rural Bucklin. He was a professional truck driver before retiring in 1993. After retiring, he returned to raising beef cattle on a smaller scale.
He became a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in 1950 where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He served in the United States Navy 1950-1953 which included service aboard the USS Coral Sea. He was on the Board of Directors for Mid-America Dairymen and headed up the “Together We Build” project for Grand Oaks Baptist Assembly in Chillicothe.
Milford never wanted to do anything but farm. In retirement, he enjoyed working with wood and built many pieces of furniture, was a voracious reader, and continued to raise beef cattle until his health precluded it.
Survivors include his three children, David E. Olson, and wife, Rose of Brookfield, Douglas W. Olson, and wife, Teresa of Dayton, Ohio, M. Raelynn Kershner, and husband, Jim of Adrian, Missouri; grandchildren, Kristina Richmond, and husband, Jay, Tom Olson, and wife, Anna, Chris Olson, and wife, Courtney, Dustin Olson, and wife, Christina; great-grandchildren, Nate, Caiden, Mason, Kairi, Roston, Ryland, Autumn, and Chloe.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Walter Jay Canney.
