Raymond DeWayne "RD" Milford Obituary

Raymond DeWayne Milford, age 84 of Laclede, MO passed at his home surrounded by family on December 10, 2023.

Raymond was born December 28, 1938, in Sumner to parents Raymond L & Cleo Mae Millsap. On June 22, 1957 he married his high school sweetheart Norma Jean Beemer

After graduating from Northwestern High School, he headed to Kansas City to work. He drove a poultry truck, started working as an accountant at Save-On, and quickly became the store manager.

In 1977, he moved his family back to the country, where he began row crop farming and farrow to finish hog operation. He started selling used cars at the farm and then opened RD Milford Auto Sales in Laclede then added Milford’s Service Station to the mix. After retiring for less than a year, he started working at Commercial Turf & Tractor. He traveled in a multi-state area selling services and equipment. He was Wiedenmann's North American salesman of the year in 2006.

When he wasn't busy working or showcasing his salesmanship, RD could be found doing what he loved most: hosting lively gatherings with friends, a passion that earned him a cherished place in the hearts of those who joined him in celebration. An avid Chiefs fan, RD was an original member of the Chief's tailgating crew, arriving hours before kickoff to revel in the pre-game excitement. His enthusiasm and dedication to the Chiefs was infectious, creating a sense of camaraderie among fellow fans that went beyond the football field.

RD’s love for the outdoors extended far beyond the sports arena. A passionate hunter, fisherman, and camper, he especially enjoyed attending the state fair, arriving weeks ahead of time to secure a spot. He reveled in sharing these skills with his sons, instilling in them a deep appreciation for nature and the thrill of the hunt. RD's commitment to the outdoors led him to become a founding member of the Laclede Sportsman Club, where his skills on the smoker became legendary at numerous fundraisers.

Beyond his outdoor pursuits, RD was known for his mischievous sense of humor and love of pranks. Whether scheming up elaborate practical jokes or giving his friends a good-natured hard time, RD had a unique talent for spreading joy and laughter wherever he went.

Yet, amidst all his adventures, RD’s heart belonged to his beloved wife, Norma Jean. Their love story was one for the ages, a testament of true companionship. Together, they weathered life's storms, and RD’s devotion to Norma Jean was unwavering.

Survivors include his wife Norma; sons Terry (Jane) & Rodney (Dawn), Daughter-in-law Holly, grandchildren Elizabeth (Jay) Quint, John, Marie (Ben Dillon), Megan (Caleb) Wilson, Fallon, Emily, Lillie, Kirstie & Parker Sands, great-grandchilden, Clare and Charlotte Quint, Brooks and Beau Wilson
