Wesley Groves, age 75, of Linneus, died Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital, Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield with Rex Wood and Donald Ray Russell officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Botts Cemetery, north of Meadville. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 1, 2021, and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wesley Eugene, son of Delbert and Mary (Cokerham) Groves, was born July 29,1946 in Pipestone, Minnesota. On November 24, 1967, he was united in marriage to Nancy Gudgell of Meadville.
Wesley served his country for six years in the United States Air Force, where he was a pilot in Vietnam as a Forward Air Controller. Wesley then spent thirty years as a math teacher, at Keytesville, Meadville, Bucklin, Linn County in Purdin and Milan schools. He also was a crop and hog farmer, a carpenter and woodworker, and a Burrus Seed Dealer. Wesley was a member of the Brookfield Church of Christ, American Legion Post 538 of Linneus, Linn County School Board (15 years), Linn County Water District, Locust Creek Township Board, Missouri Pork Producers, Missouri State Teachers Association, Missouri Retired Teachers Association, and Forward Air Controllers Association.
Survivors include his wife Nancy, of the home; three children, Casandria Derks (Chris) of King City, Missouri, Jacob Groves (Taryn) of Tampa, Florida, and Peter Groves (Misty) of Cascade, Montana; thirteen grandchildren, Madelyn, Samuel, and Gabriel Derks; Ella, Abigail, and Caroline Groves; Elijah Cristan; Lily, Laurel, Noel, Ezra, Isaiah, and Benjamin Groves; three sisters, Martha Ann Gaug (Elmer) of Meadville, Esther Almond of Brookfield, and Naomi Zawicki of Altus, Oklahoma; one brother, John Groves (Teresa) of Laclede; as well at many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
His parents and one brother-in-law, Wesley Almond preceded him in death.
