John David Skinner, Jr., age 71, died December 29, 2017 at his son’s home in Clover, South Carolina.
A graveside service will be Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. noon at Switzer Chapel Cemetery, near Bucklin; Military Honors will be rendered by VFW Post 4557.
John David, the son of John David and Dorothy (Myers) Skinner, Sr., was born February 7, 1946 in East Moline, Illinois. He was previously married Lola (Rolston) Skinner.
John was a US Marine Veteran, who served a total of three years in the Marines, thirteen months were served in Vietnam. He worked as a Real Estate Appraiser for Rolston and Rolston Real Estate in Kirksville and later for the Veteran Administration for 30 years. He also worked as a chef for the Thunderbird Country Club in South Phoenix, Arizona and later at the Scottsdale Hilton in Scottsdale, Arizona. He was a member of the Lutheran Evangelical Church in Mesa, Arizona.
Survivors include four children, Thomas Eric Skinner of Peoria, Arizona, Patricia Christine Skinner and Michael Jason Skinner both of Clover, South Carolina, and Andrew John Skinner of Gastonia, North Carolina; fifteen grandchildren, Amanda Morris, Jessica Lunsford, Thomas Eric Skinner, Jr., James David “J.D.” Skinner, Rebecca “Becca” Straits, Isbeal “Bella” Straits, Cody McConky, Cassie Ball, Chelsea Ball (deceased), Christian Michael “Bubby” Skinner, Gabriel Skinner, Gracie Skinner, Destinee Stamper, Summer Stamper, Jacy Skinner and Addison Skinner; and ten great grandchildren.
His parents, John and Dorothy Skinner; grandparents, Harry and Bertha (Martin) Myers and Alf Reuben and Laura Skinner; also preceded him in death.
