Bobby Hubert Peterson was the son of Ralph and Pauline (Roberts) Peterson. He was one of 5 siblings, born during the depression August 2, 1929, in Bennett Missouri. He enlisted in the military in 1947 at the age of 17 and was assigned to General Douglas MacArther headquarters in Tokyo Japan where he worked with General MacArther during the Korean War.
Upon returning to the United States, he served as a ROTC instructor at University of Missouri Columbia. While there he met Helen Palmer of Moberly, Mo. Bob and Helen married in 1953 in Raytown Mo. In 1955 their first son Doug was born at Ft. Leavenworth KS. Bob became an Army Recruiter and moved his growing family to Brookfield Mo responsible for a large part of north Missouri. Their daughter Christine was born in Marceline, Mo soon after moving to Brookfield. In 1958 Bob was called to serve in Army Intelligence in Oberammergau Germany. There two more sons were born David and Dean.
Bob and Helen liked Brookfield so much that when they returned to the States in 1962, they moved back to Brookfield to raise their family joining the Brookfield First Presbyterian Church. Bob served as the areas Army Recruiter until he retired in 1968 after 20 years of service.
Bob opened Peterson Real Estate in 1971 in downtown Brookfield and sold farms and homes for more than 45 years in the area. He was a fixture of downtown Brookfield standing on the sidewalk greeting everyone he would meet.
While selling real estate he also bought a farm in 1973 and loved being out at the farm taking care of the land, his cows, and his bird dogs.
Bob’s passions were his family, the Brookfield community, his farm, fishing, and hunting. He loved being outdoors and loved quail hunting with his family and friends.
He will be missed!
