Cecil Wilson Obituary

Cecil Ronald Wilson was born September 23, 1937, in Marceline, Mo and passed away on April 9, 2024, at Colonial Springs Healthcare Center with his two daughters by his side. Cecil was one of eight children born to Claud Wilson and Eula Verbal (Snyder) Wilson.

At the age of 18, Cecil moved to Kansas City to look for work as a sheet metal worker. Cecil enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas as a heavy weapons infantry man from 2/21/56 through 2/19/57 and then served in the reserves until February 1958. Cecil received a good conduct medal for his service.

On October 5, 1958, Cecil married Sarah Elaine Bradley and to this union two daughters were born Melinda Robertson and husband Tim of Bolivar and Kathy Neilson and husband Steve of Kansas City, MO. Cecil and Sarah were married 46 years until her passing in 2004. After a short employment at the Kansas City Star, in 1960, Cecil began working as an AMF mechanic. For the next 20 plus years, Cecil worked at Loma Vista Lanes, Kansas City, Mo., Raytown Bowl, and Blue Springs Bowl. Cecil’s knowledge of AMF machines kept him in demand as he traveled around the state of Missouri setting up and installing AMF machines in other bowling alley locations.

In 1981, Cecil and Sarah started their own Plumbing and Sewer business-Action Rooter, serving the Raytown/Kansas City Missouri area. Together they built a business that flourished for over 20 years. Cecil sold the business in 2005, shortly after Sarah’s passing, and he left the Kansas City area and returned home to Brookfield, Missouri to be closer to family and to retire. Cecil enjoyed the outdoors, whether he was hunting or fishing, or just sitting out by the lake with his line in the water.

Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sarah, his in-laws, Gilbert and Doris Bradley, siblings, Bernice Stuart, Evelyn Apel, Claudine Palmer, Betty Leslie, Buford Wilson, Raymond Wilson, and sister-in-law Norma Baker.

Cecil is survived by one brother, Ken Wilson, his two daughters and their spouses, as well as grandchildren, Lindsey Degraffenreid and husband Kody of Bolivar, Mo., Kelsey Orr and husband Kyle of Nixa, Mo., Leslie Francois and husband Reggie of Independence, MO., and Stacey Bunch of Raytown, Mo.
