Dale Cameron Obituary

Dale W. Cameron, age 73, of Brookfield, MO passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at his home. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Wright Funeral Home in Brookfield, MO.  Burial will be in Cartwright Township Cemetery, Pleasant Plains, IL.

Dale was born December 22, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri to Fred and Helen (Jarrett) Cameron.  He was baptized at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Harrisonville, Missouri.  In May of 1963, he graduated from Rich Hill High School in Rich Hill, Missouri.

On May 30, 1964, he married Carol Lynn Irwin at the Methodist Church in Rich Hill, Missouri.

Dale was a retired journeyman lineman.  His career in the electrical utilities industry spanned 46 years, working for several companies including MO Public Service Co. and Ameren.  He was a member of IBEW Local 2.

Being proud of his Scottish heritage, he co-founded the MOKAN Branch of Clan Cameron, North America, in June 2000.  He served as Convener and President for many years.  He enjoyed the company of other clansman while representing Clan Cameron at various Highland Games in Missouri and Kansas.  He was a born leader.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Cecil, Bill and Russell; two sisters, Dora Lee Wilson and Alice Yaw; and two sisters who died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; two daughters, Melissa Cameron Gagne of Enterprise, Alabama and Stacy and Scott Swartzwelter of Summerville, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Amanda Baxley, Maria Gagne, Alex Gagne, Cameron Jo Swartzwelter and John Swartzwelter; two great-grandsons, Xavier and Austin Benner of New Hampshire.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Distinguished recognition is given to Martey Spencer and Daniel “Joey” Swift.  These two men helped in more ways then they know to ease his final days.

Dale was a caring and loving husband, father and grandfather.  He treasured the time he spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
