David Virgil Swanberg

David V. Swanberg (Dave), 91, of Laclede, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 peacefully and comfortably in his home.  Born April 14, 1930, in Chicago IL to Frank and Luella Swanberg, as the youngest of four siblings; Frank, Harold, and Luella,  Dave enjoyed a particularly close relationship with his brother Harold, and his wife Geraldine during his formative years, and often referred to them as his “second parents”.

Known for his sharp wit and affecting charm, as well as his keen observations of the daily circumstance, Dave was highly regarded and beloved by all who knew him. While he was a self-reliant and independent man, the support and assistance given to him by his friends in the community during his later years are deeply appreciated by the family.  Dave truly impacted everyone that knew him, and he will be greatly missed by friends and family alike.

Dave is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, of 55 years and survived by his children Lynda, Cheryl, and Craig; niece, Deborah; grandchildren Shellie, Christine, Jared, Sarah, and Mary; great-grandchildren Morgan, Paige, Stephen, Derek, and Xzavier; and great-great-grandchildren Vera, Aubree, Emma, Oliver, and Owen, as well as his many close friends in the Brookfield and Laclede area.

At Dave’s request, no formal memorial service will be held; but rather, the family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 16, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Helm Street Inn, 107 W Helm St., Brookfield, MO, for an informal remembrance of Dave (aka Swanee).
