Ervin J. Hostetler, age 86, of Brookfield MO. On July 2, 2021 he passed from this life to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on August 24, 1934. He served in 1W service from spring of 1955 to spring of 1957 in Cincinnati OH. On March 26, 1957 he married Fannie Gingerich and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage together. At the age of 22 he was ordained to the ministry and 2 years later to the office of bishop in Plain City OH. He was faithful to his calling till health no longer permitted in 2017. He will be remembered for his soft chuckle and for his ornery streaks. In 2011 they moved from Paris to Brookfield MO to be with family in thir sunset years. And was a faithful member of the Locust Creek Mennonite Church until his death. He was preceded in death by his wife Fannie (Gingerich) 5 days prior on June 27, 2021, and a son Laban Edward, June 1, 1987, parents John and Lydia Hostetler, and Mose Hostetler, sisters Amanda Helmuth and Verba Hostetler. Surviving are his children, Calvin Ellis, Titus Ervin (Linda), of Brookfield MO, Miriam Erma (Perry) Knepp of Linn MO, Ruth Emma Hostetler of Lamar MO. And 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Sarah Hostetler of Holmes County OH, Polly, Janet, and Elsie Hostetler of Plain City OH. Visitation will be held Sunday July 4 from 2-4 and 6-8, and funeral Monday July 5 at 10:00 at Locust Creek Mennonite Church, Linneus MO. Burial immediately following at the Locust Creek Mennonite Cemetery.
